Boltongate Old Rectory Country Lakes Guest House
The location of Boltongate Old Rectory, amid peaceful countryside with the fells and mountains beyond, could hardly be more beautiful. The house is set in three and a half acres of mature grounds with ample car parking, a duck pond and a lily pond.
This is the home of Gill & David Taylor who have created a calm and uncluttered but warm and welcoming atmosphere which has been awarded a Five Star Gold Award by Visit Britain, the highest accolade that can be achieved. They are delightful, friendly and knowledgeable hosts with a real eye for detail and have furnished the house with an eclectic mix of old and new.
The house dates from around 1360 with later additions in the seventeenth century and Victorian times. There are two lounges for guests to enjoy: in summer the sun streams through the large drawing room windows and guests can listen to birdsong whilst admiring beautiful views over Skiddaw; during the cooler months, log fires burn in the study where there is a selection of board games to play or take time to curl up in front of the fire and read some of the many books available.
