We’re located just a couple of doors down from the famous Old Crown pub, the first cooperatively owned pub in the UK. After a hard days walking on the Caldbeck Fells, what better way to finish the day than with a swift pint or three of well kept real ale, produced by the Hesket Newmarket Brewery followed by a tasty home cooked bar meal, knowing that you’ve got a good night’s sleep in store at Denton House!

Our home is beautifully situated overlooking Grasmere Lake and the local hills and is surrounded by National Park woodland. It is an ideal centre for exploring the Lake District either by car or on foot. There is spectacular walking from our doorstep. There are a number of excellent restaurants and pubs within walking distance of the house and Ambleside which is a short drive away offers an even greater selection of eating-places. For those of you who enjoy water activities there is swimming (for the brave) plus canoeing and fishing available on the lake.

Many of our guests return year after year to enjoy the informal hospitality that we offer. We do our best to make your holiday special – whether it be helping you plan your day, suggesting a special place for dinner or taking you badger watching in the garden! We would love to meet you.

The outbuildings have been converted to create self catering accommodation comprising; Granary cottage, Hayloft flat and Courtyard bedroom all of which enjoy views across the courtyard, the gardens and surrounding countryside.
All accommodation is offered inclusive of Power/Heating, Towels/Bedlinen and use of Laundry facilities, summerhouse, picnic table and BBQ equipment.

Cherry Garth is family owned and run by sisters Amy and Viv and is superbly positioned less than five minutes walk from both the centre of Ambleside and Lake Windermere. Guests benefit from a sunny south-westerly aspect with wonderful views over the surrounding Lakeland fells. We have a large private car park at the bottom of our garden, just off the main road into Ambleside.
Cherry Garth is a non-smoking house which welcomes well behaved pets. We have 11 en-suite bedrooms including four-poster, deluxe and family sized rooms. The location of Boltongate Old Rectory, amid peaceful countryside with the fells and mountains beyond, could hardly be more beautiful. The house is set in three and a half acres of mature grounds with ample car parking, a duck pond and a lily pond.

This is the home of Gill & David Taylor who have created a calm and uncluttered but warm and welcoming atmosphere which has been awarded a Five Star Gold Award by Visit Britain, the highest accolade that can be achieved. They are delightful, friendly and knowledgeable hosts with a real eye for detail and have furnished the house with an eclectic mix of old and new.

The house dates from around 1360 with later additions in the seventeenth century and Victorian times. There are two lounges for guests to enjoy: in summer the sun streams through the large drawing room windows and guests can listen to birdsong whilst admiring beautiful views over Skiddaw; during the cooler months, log fires burn in the study where there is a selection of board games to play or take time to curl up in front of the fire and read some of the many books available.

Damson Ghyll is situated at Latterhead, Loweswater in the Vale of Lorton in the secluded north west part of the Lake District National Park and is an ideal base for walking, cycling and touring. The towns of Cockermouth (Wordsworth’s birthplace) and Keswick are nearby. Latterhead (circled in photos above) is a small hamlet enclosed by Low Fell on one side (left hand photo above) and by the higher mountains of Whiteside and Grasmoor on the other (right hand photo above). There are 3 lakes within easy reach of Latterhead – Loweswater itself, Crummock Water with its backdrop of Melbreak and Buttermere surrounded by its own set of fells – Red Pike, High Stile, Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike. The Vale of Lorton can be easily accessed over any of several beautiful passes – Whinlatter, Newlands or Honister from Borrowdale or simply off the A66 from Cockermouth. For cyclists, the Coast to Coast (C2C) route passes the front gate.
